Water Services Emergency Contact Number Notice04/01/2009 - Sligo County Council’s Water Services Department received in the region of forty calls since Friday last on its 24 Hour Emergency Contact number - 18 00 605040 Sligo County Council has advised that householders are responsible for frozen pipes on their own property, and that the Council’s efforts are focused on maintaining reservoir levels and dealing with problems on the network. Householders and farmers are once again reminded to check fittings and appliances, as they may sustain damage during the frost leading to leakage and wastage of drinking water supplies. Also, landlords and keyholders are asked to check their properties for leak damage, as the emergency number has already received numerous calls regarding leaks in such properties. The Water Services Department wishes to advise that the ongoing demands on the water supply network means that the public water supplies throughout the county may be curtailed at night-time in order to restore reservoir storage levels for day time use and fire-fighting. They are also appealing to the public not to leave taps running during this cold period in order to preserve supplies for all members of the community. Sligo County Council would like to thank the general public for their cooperation during this spell, and a number of people have contacted the emergency number to report leaks and wastage in unoccupied properties. The Emergency Contact Number will be in operation throughout this cold spell to deal with queries and problems from the general public. Communications Office |
