Message from Mayor of Sligo Borough Council

Picture of Mayor Rosealeen O'Grady 2011 While we are living in very challenging times, and I believe the key to Sligo’s future development  and prosperity lies in the co-operation between our commercial, tourism, marketing and community sectors. There is a resilience and strength in our community and a willingness to adapt to new circumstances and move forward in co-operation and partnership, and these qualities have   been the catalyst for progress in many aspects of society.

I have had the privilege of serving as Mayor on two previous occasions, and my experience has been that Sligo Borough Council is fully committed to the betterment of Sligo and this progressive and positive attitude is recognised by the wider community. There is an onus on everyone to ensure that Sligo retains a positive and vibrant image, that we speak with a strong and positive voice,  and ‘talk up’ our potential to create a strong community.
