Licence Application Procedure

A licence application form for the opening of a public road or footpath may be obtained from the Engineering Roads Section at City Hall Quay Street Sligo. Telephone 071/9114400. All application forms must be accompanied by a dimensioned sketch. The licensee is also required to have a Public Liability and Employer Insurance cover indemnifying Sligo Borough Council against any third party claims. (Public Liability minimum cover €6.4 million & Employer Insurance cover minimum €13 million)An original of your insurance must be produced and a copy will be made by us. All applications must be accompanied by the appropriate fee also.

Fees:

Fee = Processing & Inspection + Long Term Damage + Deposit

1. Processing & Inspection Fee
   €250 per Road Opening + €10/ Linear metre for Road Openings greater than 20m long.
2. Long Term Damage Fee
   Roads €25/Linear metre
   Footpaths €15/Linear metre
   Verge €5/m2
3. Deposit
   (100% Refundable) €150/Linear metre
   Subject to satisfactory reinstatement.

Conditions:

The application will also be subject to the conditions set out in the Road Opening Licence Form, or as directed by the Borough Council Engineer.
