In light of calls received from members of the public concerning the quality of
drinking water, Sligo County Council wishes to advise the general public that

Water provided through All Public Water Supplies in County Sligo is safe
to drink.

Sligo County Council and the Health Service Executive carry out regular
testing of drinking water supplies in the county in accordance with Government
Regulations.

Sligo County Council is conscious of the risk of Cryptosporidium entering
supplies and is constantly implementing measures to reduce such risks and to
ensure the protection of public health.

These measures include controlling developments within drinking water
catchment areas, optimising water treatment processes, and regularly monitoring
supplies.

Sligo County Council has regular contact with the Health Service Executive
regarding drinking water quality and if there are any concerns in relation to
public health, the public are notified.
