Sligo Borough Council has confirmed that unauthorised interference with traffic
lights caused last Monday’s traffic delays for motorists in the Hughes Bridge/Bundoran
Road area. It appears that three sets of traffic lights were tampered with –
Hughes Bridge, Sligo Inner Relief/Lynn’s Place junction and the junction of
Adelaide Street and Wine Street.
While every effort has been made to ensure the lights are tamper-proof, the
public are asked to be vigilant against this form of vandalism, and to report
any suspicious activity around traffic lights to the Gardai.
