CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE
Heritage Week in County Sligo runs from 26th August to 3rd September, and provides an ideal opportunity for people to become acquainted with our unique heritage. Last weekend Sligo Field Club organised a tour of Sligo cemetery, and on Monday last the Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Councillor Jim McGarry hosted a reception for FR Tom Davitt, Grandson of the founder of the Land League, Michael Davitt. The reception was followed a visit to Sligo Courthouse, scene of the famous ‘sedition’ trial of 1879.
