PEDESTRIANISATION OF O’CONNELL ST
The pedestrianisation of O’Connell St and Tobergal Lane is the second phase of new traffic arrangements being implemented the city centre this summer. Changes to traffic flows in Old Market St. and JFK Parade were introduced on 31st July, and the removal of traffic from our main street should greatly enhance the shopping environment in the city centre.

Sligo Borough Council will also introduce new street furniture to improve the attractiveness of the street, and plans are also being prepared for a major environmental improvement scheme for O’Connell Street.

The pedestrianisation of O’Connell St and traffic calming of surrounding streets are essential to the continued development and growth of Sligo as a gateway city.

A pocket map detailing the new traffic arrangements is available from the offices of Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council, and can also be accessed on the Local Authorities’ websites: www.sligoborough.ie and www.sligococo.ie
