Making a Planning Application

You must complete a Planning Application Form, available from Sligo Borough Council and submit it with the required documents and the appropriate fee to the planning section. The documents that shall be submitted with your application will depend on the type of development. They will need to show clearly and in sufficient details the development proposals, what the development will look like when finished, how it will relate to the site and to the adjoining structures and property.

Please click here for Downloads Section where you can download and Application Form and also Guidelines for completing the Form together with a detailed list and templates of documents required to be submitted with your Application Form.

In general however you must always submit
  1. Location map (scale 1:1000 in built up areas and 1:2500 in all other areas)
  2. Site or layout plan (scale 1:500)
  3. Other plans and elevation (scale 1:200)
  4. Copies of public notices
  5. Appropriate fee
  6. Specifications
NB – 6 copies of All Documents including Application Form, Public Notices, Plans and Maps are required by Sligo Borough Council.

The scales listed above, or more detailed plans or maps where appropriate, are those recommended to ensure that your application can be dealt with quickly. Advice is available from the planning Section to help you make your planning application.
