Parks Development
The parks department are now finalising works on the development of two new sand carpet pitches as part of the ongoing development of Forthill Park. Stage one works at Forthill have been assisted by National Sports Lottery funding of €250,000. It is hoped to achieve stage II funding in 2006 for the redevelopment of the existing soccer pitch at Forthill and other works including parkland enhancement and development of multi sports facilities

Work has also commenced on the redevelopment of Seaview Park. Funding to the value of €300,000 has been obtained from the Department of the Environment and it is intended to develop a high quality six acre park including playing pitch, multisports, childrens play areas, walking trails.
- Pitch Drainage works - Seaview Park
It is intended to commence works for the Bundoran road promenade by the end of 2005 pending part 8 planning approval. Works will include the development of a pedestrian promenade, cycleway and the new development will provide a very important physical linkage between the site of the old swimming pool and Cartron headland walkways. The development is taking place in the context of overall proposals for the development for the Cartron Recreation Area. The first phase of works is being delivered using €203,000 obtained from Dormant Accounts funding. Part 8 planning works have also commenced for the redevelopment of the site of the old swimming pool as useful recreational area and some of the works will be funded under funding assistance from Peace II.
Planning approval has been obtained for the development of new recreational facilities at Doorley Park in the area opposite the site of the old Hansons factory. Advance civil works will commence at the end of 2005 and it is intended to substantially complete the works by end of 2006. The new park will include new pitch kick about area, parkland, cycleway, walkway and new teenage multisports area. Grant aid funding of €220,000 has been obtained by the Parks Department from Rapid, National Sports Lottery. In combination with the Architects Department Sligo Borough Council have also been successful in obtaining €179,000 for play and environmental enhancement works at Doorley Park from the Department of the Environment associated with housing refurbishment works.
