Cleveragh Regional Park
Cleveragh Regional Park, owned by Sligo Borough Council, is located on the urban fringe of Sligo City situated along the course of the Garavouge river. The total park covers an area of approximately 102 hectares ( 252 acres).
The park comprises an attractive mixture of parkland and woodland in a river setting, complemented by a partially developed pedestrian footpath network and various historical features and landscapes throughout, all of which combine to create a resource suitable for a wide range of recreational uses. A wide variety of habitats associated with the woodland, parkland, river and wetland are present. The site in its present state , October 2003, is almost completely undeveloped comprising primarily of agricultural pastureland and woodland with some developed riverside walks and car parking. Sligo Regional Sports Centre which is located mid way along the road network in the park is a modern facility comprising swimming pool, gymnasium and outdoor synthetic soccer pitches.
It is an objective Of Sligo Borough Council to develop Cleveragh Regional Park for recreational purposes and to establish playground facilities and areas for active and passive recreation to meet the needs of the public of Sligo. Cleveragh Regional Park is a valuable asset and must be utilised for both active and passive sports and recreational needs of the Sligo community and the broader North West Regional population base. Proposed development works involving the provision of an extensive range of active and passive recreational facilities will consolidate the park’s status as a major amenity and cultural heritage resource for Sligo and the North West region.
Development on the scale proposed will not be possible without the funding support of the Border Midlands and Western Region ( BMW) fund and regional and sectoral benefits available under the National Development Plan ( NDP) and a recognition of the requirement to provide proper recreational infrastructure for Sligo as a gateway city.

Forthill Park
Forthill Park, owned by Sligo Borough Council, is located close to the centre of Sligo with access from Holborn Hill and Connaughton road. The total park covers an area of approximately8.2 hectares ( 20 acres).The park is currently almost completely undeveloped comprising primarily agricultural pastureland.
Its only use currently is by a local soccer club who use a playing pitch on site. The park has spectacular views overlooking Sligo and has the remnants of a historical star shaped fort referred to locally as the Greenfort.
A master plan to guide the development of the site was adopted by Sligo Borough Council in 2002 and it is intended to commence development works in 2004.

Proposals
Develop Forthill Park as a neighborhood park for both local communities and the public at large.

- Landscaped and woodland areas
- Seating areas
- Vehicular entrance from Connaughton road
- Car park
- A clubhouse and visitor centre
- Playing pitches and training area, fitness trail
- Conversion of some of the existing grasslands in open areas to wildflower meadows
- The management of existing trees by implementation of tree surgery works as required and the planting of additional trees to maintain the canopy and to further enhance the park

Mitchell Curley Park
Mitchell Curley Park , owned by Sligo Borough Council, is located on the urban fringe of Sligo City , on the Ballydoogan road west of the city centre. Drive approximately 300 metres past St Marys GAA club with the entrance on the North side of the Ballydoogan road. The total park covers an area of approximately 4.9 hectares ( 12 acres).The park includes
- Playing pitches x 3
- A toddlers and childrens playground area built to European safety standards
- A teenage multisports arena
- Over 1.8 km of walking trail suitable for elderly, wheelchair and disabled use
Booking of the playing pitches can be arranged via Sligo Regional Sports Centre on 071 9160539. Pitches are allocated on a priority basis - clubs with seasonal bookings have first call on the pitches , followed by schools, and casual social hire. All bookings are as per Sligo Borough Councils Conditions of Hire for playing pitches. Use of all other facilities in the park including children’s play areas and teenager multi sports unit is free and does not require any advance booking.
Sligo Cemetery
Sligo Cemetery, owned by Sligo Borough Council, is located close to the centre of Sligo with access to the cemetery from Pearse Road and Cemetery Road. The cemetery is divided into three main sections known locally as- Old cemetery
- Middle Cemetery
- New Cemetery
