Sligo Arts Service is a department of Sligo County Council, working in partnership with Sligo Borough Council, The Arts Council of Ireland, and key stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally to deliver a high quality Arts Service for the people of Sligo. Operating from its office in the Development Centre, Cleveragh Road, Sligo, the personnel of Sligo Arts Service deliver a programme of arts activities covering all artforms and provide advice, grants and information to individuals and groups who wish to set up arts projects in their own communities.
Space for Art, Sligo Arts Plan 2007-2012, the current arts plan was published after feedback from local artists and an arts interested audience in response to and extensive range of public consultations held county-wide on 2007. Through the publication of the arts plan Sligo County Council will support the arts for the betterment of artists, arts organisations and the practice of the arts in a wide range of social and community settings, across the generations in both the city and county.
We aim to be as responsive as possible to your needs. Please do let us know if there is any arts activity, issue or concern you would like to see addressed during the coming year.
We will continue the day-to-day provision of high quality arts information service and practicle advice that we currently offer, and the resources on our website will continue to grow.
We look forward to working with artists, groups and organisations in 2009 / 2010 in continuing to develop the arts in the city and county and ensure that Sligo’s long standing reputation as a ‘cultural county’ is secured and built upon.
