Councillor Kilgannon identified a number of key objectives, which he intends to see realised during his term in Office.  ‘First and foremost, I would hope to see Sligo realise its full potential in terms of employment and Investment. It is the successful management and delivery of core projects that will copperfasten County Sligo’s acknowledged reputation as a progressive and dynamic centre for growth.’

‘In terms of tourism, I believe that in the past we have been too modest about our attractions, and there is enormous potential in promoting County Sligo as a centre for cultural tourism. Over the coming twelve months, I hope to see the Council engage with other agencies to promote and market Sligo to a wider audience, both nationally and internationally.’

The Cathaoirleach concluded his address by noting that ‘The manner in which this Council responds will have a critical bearing on our future’.
