New Tow Away System



Sligo Borough Council wishes to advise that a new tow away system will come into operation on 31st October, 2008.

The system will apply to the following:

  • A vehicle parked in a Casual Trading Area in Market Yard during hours of trading from 8.30 am – 6.30 pm on Friday and Saturday;
  • A vehicle parked in a Disabled Parking Bay, during business hours, not displaying a valid Disabled Parking Permit;
  • A vehicle (other than a bus) parked in a Bus Parking Bay during business hours.

Procedure for release of vehicle

If a vehicle is towed away the owner must:

  • Call to Sligo Borough Council, City Hall, Sligo, to fill in a Release Form;
  • Pay Release Fee of €127.00
  • Pay storage charge of €38.00 per day thereafter if applicable
  • Provide proof of ownership of the vehicle; (Vehicle Licensing Certificate and Drivers Licence/Passport)

To retrieve a vehicle the owner will have to travel to Quinn Auto Repairs,  Gadden, Ballygawley, Co. Sligo, (Opening Hours: 9.00 am – 5.00 pm) with Receipt and Release Form from Sligo Borough Council.
