Tender for Minor Landscape Works 2010 - 2012


Sligo Borough Council intends to update select lists of horticultural contractors available to carry out minor landscape works. Competent landscape contractors are invited to complete Schedule of Rates Documentation to be included on Council’s standing lists for one or more of the following categories of service. Tender validity period 21st March 2010 to 21st March 2012

MINOR LANDSCAPE WORKS 2010 -2012

  • Category A – Provision of skilled labour for minor landscape works (including earth works, seeding and turfing, tree and  shrub planting, grave digging)
  • Category B – Provision of Arboricultural services (including tree crown lift, tree removal, stump grinding)
  • Category C - Provision of weed control services
  • Category D - Provision of Sports field services   (including verti draining, sanding, turfing, reseeding, grass  maintenance)
  • Category E - Provision of floral display services
  • Category F - Provision/maintenance of hired horticultural plant and light equipment
  • Category G – Provision of bulk landscape materials
  • Category H – Provision of fencing/railings/metalwork
  • Category I – Provision of Pest control services
  • Category J- Provision of Parks Surveying services
  • Category K - Provision of Parks Archaeological services
  • Category L – Provision of Minor Landscape Design services, Garden design services

Contractors may apply to be considered for inclusion for any one, a combination of, or all of these categories. Contractors on Council’s current list 2008 -2010 need to re-apply by submitting updated schedule of rates tender information. Companies who wish to be considered for inclusion should complete schedule of rates tender information in the relevant category and furnish documentation including company profile, details of company products, services, work history, copies of insurances, tax clearance. Contractors without their own internet access can avail of access through their local County Council Library. Pre booking of this service is essential.

Tender documents may also be obtained from the Parks Department, Sligo Borough Council, City Hall Quay Street Sligo. It will be a condition of the award of a contract that successful tenderers comply with Tax Clearance Procedures as outlined in Department of Finance Circulars (F49/29/84) No.22/95 and construction contracts and Registered Employment Agreements

Sligo Borough Council is subject to the terms of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 1997. If tenderers consider that any of the information supplied by them is either commercially sensitive or confidential in nature, this should be highlighted and the reason for its sensitivity specified. In such cases, the relevant material will, in response to FOI requests, be examined in the light of the exemptions provided for in the FOI Act

The Council does not bind itself to invite quotations or tenders from any or all of the contractors/companies appointed to the standing list and compilation of the standing list is at the sole discretion of the Council.

Completed tenders should be addressed to , or deposited with Paula R Gallagher, A/ Director of Services, (Corporate Services)  Sligo Borough Council, City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo with submitted tenders clearly marked  ‘TENDER FOR MINOR LANDSCAPE WORKS 2010 -2012’.  The deadline for submission of tenders is 4.00 pm Thursday 25th February 2010.
