Notice of proposed development under Part VIII of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001 As Amended (SI 600 of 2001)
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 81 of the Local Government Planning and Development Regulations 2006 that Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council intend to develop the proposed R286 Hazelwood/Bellanode Realignment over a length of approximately 2.3 km in the townlands of Bellanode, Hazelwood Demesne and Kiltycahill. The proposed scheme includes 3 medium sized roundabouts with the realignment of county road L7429. T Junctions and a central island have been included for development permitted under PL 08/231. The scheme with also incorporate street lighting and a combined footpath cycleway both sides of the R286.
The R286 Hazelwood/Bellanode Realignment is an Objective of the Sligo and Environs Development Plan currently under review and will form part of the Hazelwood – Bellanode Local Area Plan which sets out a blue print for the planned development of the east of Sligo Town.
The Proposed Development includes the following:
The provision of approximately 2.3km of single carriageway 6.5m wide promoting traffic calming.
The provision of a combined cycleway and footway on both sides.
The provision of central hatching along the proposed road to allow for right turn lanes at future junctions and pedestrian crossing facilities.
The provision of a realigned county road L-7429 at Hazelwood Demesne.
The provision of three medium sized roundabouts catering for existing and future traffic growths in the area.
The provision of T Junctions for permitted development under PL 08/231.
The provision of a bus bay at Hazelwood Demesne.
The provision of a surface water drainage system for the new alignment incorporating petrol inceptors for protection of receiving waters.
The provision of street lighting and ducting for extension of future services in the area.
The provision of new boundary walls and fences with set back and altering of existing boundaries to cater for the new road.
Plans and particulars of the Proposed Development are available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during office hours (excluding public holidays) up to and including 5th February 2010 at the offices of Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council at the following locations:
