Notice of proposed development under Part VIII of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001 As Amended (SI 600 of 2001)

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 81 of the Local Government Planning and Development Regulations 2006 that Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council intend to develop the proposed Old Bundoran Road Realignment over a length of approximately 1.7 km in the townlands of Lisnalurg and Rathbraghan. The proposed scheme consists of the realignment of local primary road L3410 and two local secondary roads L 7421 and L7422. The proposal will incorporate a roundabout in the centre of the scheme with street lighting and a combined footpath and cycleway both sides on all link roads.

The Old Bundoran Road Realignment is an Objective of the Sligo and Environs Development Plan currently under review and will form part of the North Fringe Area Plan which sets out a blue print for the planned development of the north of Sligo Town.

The Proposed Development includes the following:

• The provision of approximately 1.7km of single carriageway 6.5m wide promoting traffic calming.
• The provision of a combined cycleway and footway on both sides.
• The provision of central hatching along the proposed road to allow for right turn lanes at future junctions and pedestrian crossing facilities.
• The provision of a realigned Old Rathbraghan Line L7422 and construction of a new river bridge.
• The provision of an at-grade roundabout at the junction of all four link roads.
• The provision of two bus bays on the western link of the Old Bundoran Road.
• Widening of the existing stone arch bridge, on the southern end of the scheme adjacent to Abbotts, to a standard cross section and alignment with pedestrian guard rails on both sides.
• The provision of a surface water drainage system for the new alignment incorporating petrol inceptors for protection of receiving waters.
• The provision of street lighting and ducting for extension of future services in the area.
• The provision of new boundary walls and fences with set back and altering of existing boundaries to cater for the new road.

Plans and particulars of the Proposed Development are available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during office hours (excluding public holidays) up to and including 5th February 2010 at the offices of Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council at the following locations:

• Sligo County Council, Road Design Section, Market Yard, Sligo.
