Mayor Councillor Veronica Cawley has welcomed the ‘Theological Education Group’ at a recent  function in Sligo Park Hotel. In her address the Mayor acknowledged ‘the very challenging mission of the group, to convey a message of hope in some of the most difficult environments in the world. To deliver this message requires a special spirit and an unwavering conviction, and it is to the eternal credit of your group that you have surmounted the various obstacles that you face all over the world. I see your visit to Sligo as an opportunity to acknowledge the excellent work you carry out, and also to foster an awareness of the group among the general public.’

The Mayor noted ‘The special work carried out in the Sligo community by our good friend the Reverend Alan Mitchell. Alan is a caring and dynamic presence among us, and he has instigated or supported numerous worthy initiatives which have enhanced our friendship with other communites.’
