Tenancy Support and Settlement

The Cranmore Regeneration Project is working in partnership with Focus Ireland to deliver a Tenancy Support and Sustainment Project.  This is one of the actions identified in the Social Regeneration Plan for Cranmore as adopted by the Regeneration Steering Group in September 2007.

Focus Ireland

Focus Ireland is one of the leading non-profit agencies in Ireland working with people who are out-of-income.  Focus Ireland has, as a result of its research and policy analysis both proposed solutions and provided practical responses (in the form of housing and services) for people who are homeless.

Mission

Focus Ireland aims to advance the rights of people-out-of-home to live in a place they call home through quality services, research, and advocacy.

Vision

Focus Ireland believes that every person has the right to a place they can call home.

Tenancy Support and Settlement

Many people find it difficult to settle into their new homes after a period of homelessness.  A new community, finding new schools for their children, budgeting and managing their new home can often prove very stressful for them, sadly for some it can lead to their becoming homeless again.  In order to provide people with the best possible chance to sustain their homes, Focus Ireland provides a range of tenancy support services for single people, young people, families and children who are either moving into a home of their own or who require support to sustain their current tenancy.  These services are designed to meet the needs of each customer group and include:

  • Early Intervention – aims to reduce level of evictions and other forms of tenancy breakdown by supporting households to resolve difficulties at an early stage (e.g. emerging rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, isolation, harassment etc.).
  • Crisis Support – works to respond promptly to a situation where there is an immediate or impending risk of losing one’s tenancy (e.g. threat of eviction, notice to quit or when early intervention has not been possible).
  • Community Settlement – supports people moving from homelessness into long-term accommodation with the local authority, private rented or other social housing groups.
  • Young Person’s Support – assists young people who are moving from state care or from emergency accommodation into their own home.
How to Access the Services

Referrals can be made by telephone and followed up by an application form.  We welcome referrals from all statutory and voluntary groups as well as self-referrals.
