Mayor, Councillor Jonathan McGoldrick officially opened the City’s Newest Recreational Area at Seaview Park on the first Sea Road. The Project was the latest in a series of amenity areas provided by the Council’s Parks Department.
Cllr McGoldrick was keen to laud Sligo’s commendable track record in terms of recreation and amenity, ‘When one considers the developments at Doorly Park, Cartron, Cranmore and Forthill, Sligo can be proud and I think these efforts are acknowledged by the wider community’.
‘Providing a complex of recreational facilities is one of the most rewarding and meaningful projects a local authority can gift to a community, and I think you will agree this park will be well received by all who visit it’.
Highlighting the amenities at the new Seaview Park complex, Cllr McGoldrick noted it’s wonderful range of facilities including a multi-use games area, extensive walking paths and of course a children’s play area.
The Mayor paid special tribute to County Manager Hubert Kearns, who is a passionate advocate for top class recreation and amenity facilities for Sligo city, and thanked Town Clerk, John McNabola and Michael Condren and his Staff for their input into the highly successful Project.
The Day itself was action packed and fun-filled, with Bouncing Castles, Face Painting, Balloons, Children’s entertainment and live Music. The Ocean FM Roadshow was on site from 2.00pm to capture all the excitement.
Mayor Cllr Jonathan McGoldrick and all the Staff of Sligo Borough Council’s Parks Department would like to thank all those involved in the organisation of the Event, and a special word of thanks is owed to all the Residents and friends of the Seaview area who turned out in force for the momentous Occasion.
