Official Opening of Seaview Recreational Park

Sligo Borough Council is pleased to announce the official opening of the City’s newest Recreational Area at Seaview Park (off the first Sea Road).  Facilities at the six acre site include a sand carpet all weather pitch, a multi-use games area, extensive walking paths and children’s natural play areas.

The Opening will be performed by the Mayor of Sligo Jonathan McGoldrick and will take place at 3.00pm on Friday next 21st September 2007. According to Mayor McGoldrick ‘Sligo Borough Council’s Parks Department is delivering a major programme of capital works to develop and upgrade recreational facilities and amenity areas around Sligo City. In addition to the excellent complex at Seaview Park, the Council has invested in recreational at Forthill Municipal Park, a new parkland amenity at Doorly Park, and two new amenity areas at Carton foreshore. In the last year we have also upgraded the facilities at Mitchell Curley Park to provide a 12 lane Boules (petanque) court, and this investment certainly paid dividends with Bridie Nicholson’s recent gold success in petanque at the World Transplant Games.’

Next Friday afternoon’s opening at Seaview Park promises to be a fun-filled Day with the Ocean FM Roadshow on site from 2.00pm to capture all the excitement. Other Activities will include a Bouncing Castle, Face Painting, Balloons, Children’s entertainment and live Music.
