Borough gets tough on illegal parking.

Car Park Bye-laws 2008.

The revised Car Park Bye-laws 2008 came into force in July this year.  Under the revised bye-laws a number of additional parking enforcement measures were introduced in order to combat illegal parking.

These measures include the power to remove any -

1) unauthorised vehicles parked in Casual Trading Areas in Market Yard during hours of trading - 8.30 am to 6.30 pm every Friday and Saturday.
2) vehicles parked in Disabled Parking Bays, during business hours, not displaying valid    Disabled Parking Permit.
3) vehicles, other than buses, parked in Bus parking bays during business hours.

Vehicles will be removed by contractor, Quinn Auto Repairs and all costs associated with the removal will be at the expense of the owner.  To retrieve a vehicle the owner will have to pay the removal fee of €127.00 and a storage charge of €38.00 per day thereafter.  Proof of ownership of the vehicle together with one form of identification will have to be produced before any vehicle is released.

The revised parking bye-laws 2008 also changed the minimum parking period from one hour to just 20 minutes, at all but 4 on-street parking place locations, and accordingly reduced the minimum parking fee payable to 40 cents.

Finally the fee for parking in respect of the following on-street locations has been  changed from €1.20 per hour to €2.50 for a period of up to one day”.
The Locations are:
Pearse Road -        From its junction with  Pilkington Terrace to its Junction with Mail 
                                Coach Road (both sides of the road)
Church Hill   -        Showgrounds Inset
The Mall      -         Between Calry Lane and River Lane
Finisklin Road -      From Michael Conlon Road to Boundary of Meter Parking on
                                Finisklin Road

A monthly parking permit may be purchased for € 42.00 in respect of the following car parks ;
(a) Market Place Car Park.
(b) St. Annes Car Park
(c) Connaughton Road Car Park
(d) Forthill Car Park
