Mayor Launches ‘Dare 2 Care’ Challenge

Mayor Councillor Rosaleen O’Grady has called the ‘Dare2Care’ challenge ‘one of the most exciting and deserving initiatives I have come across in recent times.’  The Mayor spoke of the valuable contribution made by young carers. ‘Whether it is caring for a relative or close friend, these special young people are a hugely important, but often unseen, presence in our community. The main reason they have not come to public prominence is that these modest and discreet heroes fulfill their role in a diligent and unassuming manner, without any expectation of acknowledgement or reward.’

‘The Dare2Care challenge will raise the profile of your organization, will convey a powerful message to the wider public about your aims and objectives, and will help generate vital funding to support your many activities. It is essential that young carers realize that their burden is not unique, that there is a network of supports in place, and that there are experienced and willing people available to advise and guide them.’
