Annual Mayor’s Ball 2010

The Annual Mayor’s ball was held in the Clarion Hotel on Saturday 6th February 2010. Welcoming guests, including guest of honour, Dearbhala Walsh, Councillor Jim McGarry said it provided an opportunity to convene in a relaxed and enjoyable environment and enabled the generation of valuable funding for very important and worthy local charities.

He went on to speak about the onus of all people in positions of leadership and responsibility to plan and deliver a concerted framework for the future development and growth of Sligo city. In referring to the importance of community he paid tribute to the Sligo cancer support centre and the northwest hospice, the receipients of this years proceeds, describing them as two of Sligo’s best loved institutions. Councillor McGarry concluded by thanking Dymphna Gorman and her committee for the professionalism with which the event was organised..
