Mayor Attends Sligo Chamber Dinner

Mayor Councillor Jim McGarry was among a large crowd to attend the recent annual Sligo Chamber of Commerce Dinner. Local senators and TDs were also in attendance with guest speaker, George Hook delivering a light hearted speech to the guests.

In his address Mayor McGarry stressed the importance of a partnership approach during these difficult economic times. “I see the association between the Chamber and Sligo Borough Council, and other key agencies, as a key factor in mapping the way ahead for Sligo and its citizens.”

He highlighted Sligo Borough Councils’ Parks and Amenities programme as a crucial development in enhancing the local communities in Sligo city and creating a pleasant environment for visitors.

The Mayor concluded his address by saying that a positive and collective approach by Sligo Borough Council and the Sligo Chamber to the obstacles which lie ahead would be crucial in the future development of Sligo.
