World Rally Road Closures

Please take note that as a result of traffic issues arising from the FIA World Rally Championship 2009 the following roads will be closed:

LOCATION 1: FERMOYLE, CALRY

Thursday, 29th January, 2009 - Period of closure from 4.30 am to 12.45 pm.

• Road L-7420-0 from its junction with Local Road L-3407-22 in Fermoyle, north east to its junction with Local Road L-7418-29 in Fermoyle.
• Road L-7418-29 from its junction with Local Road L-7420-0 in Fermoyle, east and south to its junction with Regional Road R278 in Fermoyle.

Alternative routes for this general area are via N16, L-3407-22, L-7418-0, R278, L-7423-0.

LOCATION 2: GEEVAGH

Sunday, 1st February, 2009 - Period of closure from 5.05 am to 12.05 pm.

• From junction of Regional Road R284 with Local Road L-1101-0 in Drummacool via Local Roads in Carrownadargny, Straduff and Glen, L-1101-0, L-1101-70, L-11014-0, L-11015-0 to Sligo/Roscommon County Boundary.

Alternative route for this general area are via junction of Regional Road R284 with L-5207-0 and on to L-5101-0 in Ballinakill, through Rooghan, Aughoo and Carrownagilty to Carrownadargny. With L-52071 and L-2072 off L-5207 in Carrownyclowan.

Alternative route for this general area are via junction of Regional Road R284 with L-1102-0 in Straduff, Geevagh through to Tapp. With L-11016-0 in Tapp.

LOCATION 3: LOUGH GILL STAGE

Sunday, 1st February, 2009 - Period of closure from 6.20 am to 13.20 pm.

• Regional Road R286 from the Leitrim/Sligo County Boundary westwards along the R286 to its junction with Local Road L-7428-0 at Kiltycahill.

Alternative route will be along Regional Road R278 from its junction with Regional Road R286 at Bellanode to Co. Leitrim via Colgagh/Fivemilebourne.

In the interest of safety, roads adjoining the above mentioned routes for a distance of 200 metres will also be closed.

SLIGO BOROUGH – CLARION ROAD

• The period of closure is from 6.00 am on Thursday 29th January 2009 to 10pm on Sunday 1st February 2009 (inclusive). 

Diversions will be via Ash Lane. Signed traffic diversions will be in operation.

Local access will be maintained.
