The Special meeting was convened for the purpose of considering a motion to confer on Mr. John McNabola the Freedom of the Borough of Sligo.
On the invitation of the Borough Council the attendance included members and friends of Mr. McNabola, Freemen, Former Mayors and other invited guests.
It was proposed by Councillor McGarry seconded by Councillor O’Grady and unanimously agreed “That the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Sligo be and is hereby conferred upon Mr. John McNabola and that his name be entered on the Roll of Honorary Freemen of the Borough of Sligo pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act 1991”.
It has seemed fitting to us that the name of John McNabola be enrolled in the Roll of Freemen of the Borough of Sligo in recognition of his outstanding career as a Public Official, his exemplary service as Town Clerk, and his commitment to the highest standards of public service.
Mr. John McNabola then signed the Roll of Freemen and was presented by the Mayor with a certificate of enrolment in the Roll of Freemen of the Borough of Sligo and with a hand carved plaque in Sligo Ash.
Mr. McNabola then addressed the meeting and thanked the Council for the honour it had bestowed on him.
This concluded the business of the meeting which ended at 8.45pm.
