The Mayor proposed and Councillor Devins seconded a vote of sympathy to Councillor Tom MacSharry and family on the death of his grandmother Mrs Josephine McGettrick.
All the members joined in the expression of sympathy and agreed unanimously to adjourn the meeting as a mark of respect.
The Director of Services joined in the expression of sympathy on behalf of the staff.
Councillor MacSharry thanked the members and executive for their sympathy.

The Mayor welcomed a deputation for Northside Community Youth Project. Ms Ann Donegan, Ms Lydia McLoughlin and Ms Tanya Wallace outlined the work of the youth project and their immediate financial needs. The Mayor thanked Ms McLoughlin, Ms Donegan and Ms Wallace for their presentation. All the members complimented their work and the work of the project. Councillor D. Cawley proposed, Councillor McLoughlin seconded and it was unanimously agreed “That Sligo Borough write to the Minister O’Cuiv requesting additional funding of € 100 k for Northside Partnership to continue their activities for another 3 years in Sligo to promote youth involvement in their Local Community. This motion to be circulated to all Oireachtas Members”
Councillor Bree proposed, Councillor McGoldrick seconded and it was unanimously agreed “That Sligo Borough Council calls on the Oireachtas members from the constituency to arrange an urgent meeting with the relevant Government Ministers to seek multi annual funding to sustain the Northside Community Youth Project”

The Minutes of the Joint Policing Committee Meeting of 8th October 2007 were already adopted at the January Monthly Meeting on the 7th January 2008
Correspondence from the Electoral Area Boundary Committee was circulated with Agenda on 30th January 2008.
Councillor C. MacManus proposed, Councillor S. MacManus seconded “That this Borough Council forwards a submission to the Electoral Area Boundary requesting that the three Electoral Wards used in previous Borough Council Elections would remain in situ with four seats apiece”
A report of the Town Clerk dated 23/01/08 had been circulated with Agenda on 30/01/08. Councillor S. MacManus proposed, Councillor D. Cawley seconded and it was unanimously agreed that Casual Trading Bye Laws 2008 be adopted.
A copy of Draft Sligo Borough Council Car Park and Parking Places Bye Laws 2008 were circulated to members on 8th February 2008.
On the proposal of Councillor C. MacManus seconded by Councillor Gibbons it was unanimously agreed to proceed with the consultation process in relation to the above Bye-Laws subject to the following change proposed by Councillor C. MacManus seconded by Councillor Gibbons “That ‘during business hours’ is deleted after Disabled Parking Bays in the proposed Car Park and Parking Places Bye-Laws 2008 – subject to legal advise”
Members also requested that signage be erected at the Disabled Parking Bays to include a phone number which can be used by the public to report any unauthorised use of these bays.
It was unanimously agreed to defer this item to the March Monthly Meeting
On the proposal of Councillor Gibbons seconded by Councillor McGoldrick it was unanimously agreed to take in charge the roads, footpaths and open spaces in Mulberry Park, Ashbury Lawn, Mulberry Close and Glencarrrig Housing Estate
On the proposal of Councillor Chris MacManus seconded by Councillor McLoughlin it was unanimously agreed to dispose of Number 79 Doorly Park to its tenants in accordance with notice circulated to members on 4th December 2007.
On the proposal of Councillor Gibbons seconded by Councillor Sean MacManus it was unanimously agreed to dispose of Number’s 13 and 7 The Wodlands, Ballytivnan to its tenants in accordance with notice circulated to members on 23rd January 2008.
A Draft Supplementary Development Contribution Scheme for the Western Distributor Road had been circulated with Agenda on 30/01/08. The Mayor welcomed Mr Joe Murphy Senior Executive Officer Sligo County Council who gave a brief outline of the scheme.
On the proposal of Councillor Bree seconded by Councillor McGoldrick it was agreed to adopt this scheme Councillor David Cawley dissenting.
Councillor Sean MacManus proposed, Councillor McLoughlin seconded and it was unanimously agreed to accede to above request.
It was unanimously agreed to defer above motions to March Monthly Meeting.
